Adelberg Montalvan Reviews!

Why should you choose (and recommend to your friends) Adelberg Montalvan Pediatric Dental for all of your child’s dental care needs?

Our testimonials speak for themselves!

Dr. Adam was phenomenal. All of the staff was really kind and helpful. Laurie helped me through the insurance processes greatly! - Mylo T.

My children are late dentist visitors. Ironically, the reason for the delay was probably more to do with my fear, than there's. Unfortunately, by the time of their first visit (ages 7 and 8), they both have over 5 cavities each and my daughter, age 7, needed an extraction. Dr. Marc Bennett not only made sure that my children are completely at ease during their dental visits, but he calms my nerves as well, even without sweet air! ;) My children look forward to going to the dentist and have never even said the word "ouch". Even after my daughter's extraction, or as Dr. Bennett puts it, "wiggle it out", she didn't feel any discomfort whatsoever. And I absolutely love that the office calls after each visit to check on the "patient". The entire office makes sure that, as a parent, you are comfortable, secure and well informed, and as a patient, you are smiling and having fun. Could not imagine a better dental experience (for my children, of course ;) ) - Paul P.

The hygienist Nicole was very professional. She was very friendly and encouraging about my daughter's brushing habit. - Elizabeth N.

This was our children's first dentist visit so needless to say we were all filled with anxiety, fearing the worst, but, thankfully, we were completely put at ease by the entire staffs professionalism, patience and care they displayed with our kids. I couldn't recommend them more highly. - John M.

We love Dr Erica! We are happy with th entire staff. Everyone is friendly and helpful and we never have a long wait.  - Allison F.

Thank you to all who have shared their experiences with us, we always strive to care for our patients as if they were our own children and love hearing that they had a pleasant dental experience in our offices. Have you visited recently and have a story to share? Let us know on our Facebook page!

Stop the Spread of the Flu This Season

Just last month, more than 100 students were kept out of the Levittown school district with the flu (or flu like symptoms). And according to the below News 12 report earlier this week - experts say this just may be the beginning.
News 12
As the flu bug continues to ramp up on LI, we have some tips to help protect you and your kids this season:
  • Wash hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol based hand rub
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth - germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated
  • Clean and disinfect surfaces frequently touched at home, work, or school - especially when someone is ill
  • Store your toothbrush in a place where it can dry without touching other brushes - this prevents airborne bacteria from hoping from one brush to the next
  • Also, get a new brush at the start of an illness and replace it after the cold or flu has run its course
If you have any questions about how to better care for your child’s oral health - give any of our offices a call. Adelberg Montalvan Pediatric Dentistry has three Long Island locations. We specialize in caring for children’s teeth in a comfortable and caring environment. Call (516) 798-1111 or visit our website to schedule an appointment. #WellnessWednesday - Packing Healthy Lunches

Food plays an important role in balancing mood and concentration. Not to mention, the right foods can have positive effects on your dental health! With the school year gearing up, now's the time to get into the groove of packing teeth friendly lunches that also give your child a boost for improved learning.

Packing a healthy lunch for your kids doesn’t have to be complicated, expensive, or time consuming. Here are some ideas to make it easy:
  • Pretzel Kabobs - Take some ham, turkey, and cheese and roll them up together - then skewer them with pretzel sticks. The casein protein found in cheese (or other milk products) helps to fortify the tooth’s surface and protect against cavities. It’s low in sugar and acid, and high in calcium!
  • DIY Pizza Lunchables - Use a whole-wheat sandwich thin, turkey pepperoni, pizza sauce, and shredded low fat cheese. If bread products have to be included in the meal, stick to whole grains. While they can still stick to your teeth, bacteria doesn't grow as quickly when you choose foods made with whole grains instead of foods made with refined grains and added sugar (like white bread).
  • Power Pita - Take 2 mini whole wheat pita pockets and stuff them with grilled chicken strips, leafy greens, and other veggies. Bell peppers are a great source of vitamin C - a nutrient that builds collagen which helps for strong gums. Vitamin A, found in leafy greens and carrots helps to protect tooth enamel!
Encouraging healthy eating habits now can go a long way!

Have any other tooth-friendly treats your kids love? Head to our Facebook page and share your ideas! And don't forget to take your kid's selfie for our #SelfieOfSummer contest!!

Help Your Kids Make the Grade for Dental Health

While enjoyable, the laid back pace of summer can often disrupt normal routines. With the first day of school around the corner, it’s time to start to transition your children back into their school year schedules (including establishing good dental habits).

As you know, a twice-yearly checkup is your child’s best defense against poor oral health; but, there are some dental habits that can begin at home! See below for some tips to help your kids ‘make the grade’ for dental health:

  • Get your kids used to brushing 2 minutes, twice a day - purchase a brushing timer, or download a brushing app to use to encourage them to spend the full amount of time brushing their teeth!
  • New school year, new toothbrushes! Be sure you swap the toothbrushes every three months to avoid buildup of germs and bacteria.
  • Help your child’s nutrition by packing health lunches and replacing soft drinks and juices with water to keep their sugar consumption low.
  • Get pending dental appointments, including fillings, out of the way before going back to school, to avoid missing class time during the school year. Schedule a visit with us today!

We specialize in caring for children’s teeth in a comfortable and caring environment. Call (516) 798-1111 or visit our website to schedule an appointment.

Important Teeth Terms

Caring for your children’s teeth is essential for starting them on the right to path to good oral health. If you’re uncertain of some words we’ve used during your appointments or on phone calls, we’re here to help you brush up on your vocab.

See the below important teeth terms everyone should know:

Primary Teeth: You may have heard the term primary teeth, milk teeth, or deciduous teeth, but most commonly - baby teeth. Around age 6 most children will lose their baby teeth and the permanent, adult teeth will come in.

Anesthesia: This kind of pain numbing medication is applied ‘locally’ - only to the area that needs numbing. A local anesthetic may be used while filing cavities or other minor procedures. For serious surgeries, general anesthesia may be required - which produces partial or complete unconsciousness

Gingivitis: Triggered by bacteria inside the mouth, gingivitis is the first stage of gum disease. Gingivitis causes inflammation of the gum around the roots of the teeth and if the connective matter around the teeth is damaged, it may progress to tooth loss.

Fixed Appliances: This is another term used to describe semi-permanent devices attached to the teeth, like braces. Traditional braces are bonded to the front of the teeth to fix alignment problems.
