Labor Day Weekend on Long Island!

 
With Labor Day weekend unofficially marking the end of summer, be sure to celebrate one last hurrah with the family before you fall back into school and busy schedules.
 
If you still haven’t nailed down your plans yet, check out some of these local happenings around the Island:

Shinnecock Pow-Wow -  Shinnecock Reservation, Southampton
8/29 - 5-11pm, 8/30 - 10a-11p, 8/31 and 9/1 - 10a-5p
Price: seniors: $12, kids ages 6-11: $10, kids 5 and younger: FREE
Tribal dances, ceremonies, crafts, storytelling, native foods, demonstrations, dance and drum competitions followed by a fire lighting at sunset!

Street Fair on the Green - Eisenhower Park Field 8, East Meadow
8/30 - 8/31 from 10a-5p
FREE
A unique opportunity to check out some arts and crafts with all the fun of a street fair but in the middle of Nassau County’s biggest park.

Old Time Music Weekend - Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Old Bethpage
8/30 - 8/31 from 10a-4p
Price: seniors: $10, kids ages 5-12: $7, kids under 5: FREE
Honoring the American soldiers, a Brass Military band will perform, along with popular music from the Civil War time period. Visitors may also enjoy learning traditional 1800s contra dancing, while listening to the music.

Splish Splash - Splish Splash Water Park, Calverton
10a-5p through September 1
Price: $41, for those shorter than 48 inches tall: $31
Long Island’s lone water park closes on Labor Day, so ride the waves one last time before the party’s over.

Labor Day Weekend Guide!

For most people, Labor Day symbolizes end of summer, the one last hurrah before kids are back in school and full time work has resumed.

Gold Star Battalion Beach, Huntington, NY 11743
Saturday, August 31st - 11 am
The Huntington Lighthouse Preservation Society presents the 6th Annual Music Fest - the only music festival held on top of a working lighthouse in the middle of the sound and enjoy free and live performances with a musical variety from reggae to jazz and even rock. Spectators arrive in boats and yachts and other modes of water transportation from all over the tri-state area come to participate. Rain date is September 1st.

Sunday, September 1st - 11 am to 6 pm 
The Ronkonkoma Chamber of Commerce presents its 8th Annual Street Fair with hundreds of vendors, arts and crafts, and children’s rides, live music and entertainment, food, drinks and meet local business owners. Rain or shine! 
Seaford Railroad Station, Merrick Road, Seaford, NY 11783
Saturday, August 31st - Monday, September 2nd - 11 am to 6 pm
Spend the whole weekend at the Seaford Festival featuring merchandise and food vendors, arts and crafts and great gift items. Handicapped access is available. Come rain or shine!

 Spend Labor Day weekend at the American Airpower Museum for a show of all operational museum aircraft plus visiting aircraft. Call for more information.

Come interact and buy goods directly from emerging and established artisans as well as high quality craft, gift and service vendors who are offering their goods at affordable prices. Admission and parking is free at Field 8.
