Adelberg Montalvan Pediatric Dental Reviews!

Why should you choose (and recommend to your friends) Adelberg Montalvan Pediatric Dental for all of your child’s dental care needs?

Our testimonials speak for themselves!

Dr Janine explains everything thoroughly. She is extremely patient and nurturing. She made me feel comfortable as a parent. - Matthew H.

My son, Billy, has massive anxiety and panic when it comes to going to the dentist office. Everyone at the office made us feel comfortable even when my son was screaming like a banshee and causing a scene. Lynda, the dental hygienist, had the patience of a saint considering that my son threw up on her. I was so thankful as to how gracious everyone was considering what was going on. - William R.

Everyone was wonderful, the staff put my daughter and me at ease, especially Dr. Mark and Marie. Thank you! - Kaylee R.

The office staff was welcoming and friendly. They answered my questions and were very helpful. The dentist really knows how to talk to kids and make their worries or concerns feel heard. We’ve been to this office twice so far and have had the same consistent and wonderful experience. My 3 year old son loves the waiting room so much that he will ask if we could come back soon. Overall, we are very happy here. - Greyson F.

Everyone was great. From the time we went in to the time we left. Even a follow up call later that afternoon. Highly would refer everyone I could to this facility. - Maegan M.

Thank you to all who have shared their experiences with us, we always strive to care for our patients as if they were our own children and love hearing that they had a pleasant dental experience in our offices. Have you visited recently and have a story to share? Let us know on our Facebook page!

How to Spring Clean Your Smile

Spring has sprung! Have you started your spring cleaning yet? In addition to household chores, now is the perfect time to spring clean your dental routine as well!
Not sure where to begin? See below to get started:
Rid the junk food: By now you should know that the food you consume plays a vital role in oral health. In honor of National Nutrition Month, work to limit the amount of junk food in your home and instead replace with healthy fruits and vegetables for snacking.

Throw out your old toothbrush: Has your toothbrush seen better days? It may be due time for a replacement. In general, toothbrushes should be replaced every three months unless they show signs of wear earlier. So inspect your family’s toothbrushes - any with frayed bristles should be disposed of and replaced for the spring season.

Remind everyone to brush and floss daily: Brushing and flossing are two of the most basic weapons in the fight against tooth decay. Reinforce dental habits in your home by reminding everyone to brush for two minutes, twice daily, and floss regularly.

Schedule an appointment with us: The best way to help spring clean your dental routine? Scheduling a visit with us! Regular exams and cleanings are important for all ages. They give us the chance to monitor your child’s oral health and be proactive in catching problems early.

Give us a call to schedule an appointment to make sure your child is on the right path to a lifelong healthy and happy smile! Give any of our 3 locations a call to schedule your appointment today!

Tooth Friendly Easter Basket

T-minus 2 days until the Easter Bunny stops by our homes! And who doesn’t love waking up to a basket full of colored eggs and various sweet treats! But when the baskets are empty, you may find yourself left with another surprise from the Easter Bunny - a toothache.

This year, encourage the Easter Bunny to leave some tooth-friendly options for your little bunnies - such as:

Hollowed out chocolate - Moderation is key! You don’t need to deprive your kids from their favorite chocolate bunny, just choose hollowed out instead of a solid brick of chocolate. Better yet, look for dark chocolate treats - dark chocolate contains an ingredient called CBH which can help harden tooth enamel, win win!

Tooth-friendly treats - Lollipops, caramels, or any other hard/sticky candy takes longer to eat and can latch on to teeth, exposing teeth to sugars longer. Don’t let these be the center of focus for the Easter basket -  choose dark chocolate, sugarless gums, or sugar-free candies. Aside from candy - there are always some healthy snack options like carrot sticks! An Easter Bunny favorite and also great for teeth, carrots help stimulate saliva which helps wash away any sugars in the mouth.

Toys, games & gifts - Stuffed animals, sidewalk chalk, lip balm, oh my! Easter doesn’t have to be all about having sweets - after all, your kids are sweet enough! Add in some non-food alternatives to celebrate the holiday while also protecting teeth.

Dental products - Get your kids excited about brushing and flossing again! Treat them to a fun flavored toothpaste or floss to add variety to their normally minty routine. Add some fun animal dental flossers and new toothbrushes for a complete dental set. Perfect to use after the candy is done!

For all who are celebrating, we hope you have a Hoppy Easter!

Get Ready for Spring Sports | Custom Mouthguards

True or False - Youth football and hockey have the highest amount of sports-related dental injuries.

FALSE. Due to mandatory protective equipment - mouthguards - the number of dental and facial injuries have reduced significantly in these sports over the years. In actuality, baseball and basketball have been shown to have the highest incidence of sports-related dental injuries in this age group.

With spring sports - like baseball and softball- gearing up for the season, it’s important to make sure your child is well prepared. Prevent dental injuries in all spring sports or outdoor fun by including a mouthguard as a mandatory part of play.

And while any mouthguard is better than no mouthguard, our team at Adelberg Montalvan strongly recommends opting for a custom fit guard - and here’s why:

  • Custom fabricated mouthguards are created off of a dental model of your child’s mouth. This makes the guard completely unique to your athlete.
  • Custom made guards are superior in retention, protection, and comfort. Since they fit perfectly to your child’s mouth, they won’t interfere with speech or breathing.
  • Custom made guards better cover all of your child’s teeth - even those with braces!
  • Custom guards can also be created in any color your child prefers - to match their school or PAL team uniforms - right here in any of our three locations!
At all three of our locations you can find a Mouthguard Center that will fit your child with a custom mouthguard, and the bonus is you don’t need to be a patient - so be sure to share with your child’s teammates! For more information give us a call! And don’t forget to LIKE us on Facebook and Follow us on Twitter for AMPD updates and industry news.

Celebrate National Nutrition Month

It’s National Nutrition Month! We know it's not always easy to get kids to eat healthy, but sticking to a nutritional, well-balanced diet is essential for tooth-health! Make sure to incorporate the below foods this month, and always:

High fibrous foods: Fruits, vegetables, and grains help to scrub teeth and stimulates saliva, your mouth’s first defense in fighting mouth monsters. Saliva helps neutralize any acids that may attack tooth enamel.

Building Blocks: Make sure to serve up plenty of foods that are rich in essential vitamins and minerals like vitamins A, C, D, and calcium and phosphorous. These nutrients help to protect and rebuild tooth enamel and can be found in beef, eggs, whole grains, poultry, fish, tofu, and many nuts!

Dairy: Dairy products like milk and yogurt are known to provide the calcium and phosphate needed to help strengthen teeth. Cheese is also a great source of calcium and helps to stimulate saliva as well! Do keep in mind though, that the lactose in milk can attack teeth if left lingering in the mouth. That’s why it’s best to put baby to bed with a bottle of water.

Water: Absolutely the most tooth-friendly beverage, water will rinse away food particles and sugars left behind in the mouth. Fluoridated water in particular, has the most benefit for tiny teeth!
