From outdoor ice skating to indoor Chinese New Year celebrations, see below for a list of activities sure to fill up your weekend!

Celebrate Lunar New Year

LI’s 2nd Annual Lunar New Year Festival will be held at Planting Fields Park and Coe Hall Castle. Celebrate the year of the Rooster with martial arts performances, traditional cultural activities (like paper cut arts, Calligraphy, Shadow Theater play) and festival games.

The Whaling Museum and Education Center — Cold Spring Harbor
Saturday  |  2:30pm  |  Admission + $5 craft fee
This Chinese New Year, learn about its history, play a good-luck symbol match game, write “whale” in Chinese and enjoy theme-related craft stations around the museum!

A Bright New Year
Long Island Children’s Museum — Garden City
Saturday  |  2pm - 2:45pm  |  Fee: $3 with museum admission ($2 LICM members).
Head to the LICM to learn more about the year of the Rooster, Chinese customs and celebrations surrounding the holiday. Welcome 2017 with a beautiful painted paper lantern!

2017 Chinese New Year Celebration
The Educational & Cultural Center — Stony Brook

A nine-foot lion dance and martial arts demonstrations make this Chinese New Year Celebration an event to remember! Festivities include authentic Shaolin, Manhattan Taiko, craft activity for the kids, and more!

Halloween may be over but that doesn’t mean the fun is! It’s the first weekend in November and Long Island is packed with entertaining things for you and your family to enjoy!

Let the kids take the wheel at the annual ‘Touch a Truck’ event in the parking lot of the Smith Haven Mall. Children can get up close and personal to fire trucks, military vehicles, police and emergency vehicles, construction trucks, and more! Children and adults with special needs or sensitive hearing can attend the “Horn-Free Hour” from 10:00 am - 11:00 am.

Ever dream of meeting a penguin? Now you and your family can! The Long Island Aquarium is offering a 45-minute interactive experience where you go behind the scenes and see how the experts take care of the animals. Photos are permitted!

Speaking of gaming - head to the Long Island Retro Gaming expo this Saturday! Video game lovers can play all their old favorites using none other than retro equipment and vintage 1980s-90s TVs at this one day expo! Massapequa Park Street Fair THIS Weekend!


It’s almost time for the annual Massapequa Park Street Fair! Located right off Sunrise Highway, at Park Blvd & Front Street, the Massapequa Park Street Fair has been a staple of summer entertainment for over three decades!

Join the Long Island Ducks for the first Grucci Fireworks Extravaganza of the 2016 season. It's also a Dick's Sporting Goods Saturday at the Duck Pond! Riverhead Foundation’s 2016 Seal Watching Cruises - Freeport

Climb aboard the Captain Lou Fleet to view winter harbor seal populations throughout Hempstead Bay. A naturalist will be on board to discuss biology and behavior of seals and other marine life encountered. Heated cabin and warm beverages available as well! 50% of all proceeds are donated to the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation for the rehabilitation of local seals and other marine wildlife in need of help. Upcoming Easter Egg Hunts on Long Island!

 
The Leprechaun came and went, now the Easter Bunny is getting ready to start his hop across Long Island. If you’re looking for some “eggcellent” weekend festivities - we’ve got you covered:
Easter Egg Hunt at Old Mill Nurseries - Bellmore
Saturday, March 19th at 12pm
Cost: Free
Take part in the 12th Annual Easter Egg Hunt this weekend! Starting at 11:30am, the Easter Bunny and his helpers will hide over 1,000 eggs around the Old Mill Nursery - marking 10 Special Eggs that can win you a prize! The hunt begins at 12pm followed by pictures with the Easter Bunny at 12:30pm - bring your cameras!

Spring Egg Hunt at Belmont Lake State Park - North Babylon
Saturday, March 19th from 12-2pm
Cost: Free
Children of all ages can take part in an Easter Egg Hunt as well as enjoy various games, pony rides, and other live animals! There will also be a special appearance from the Easter Bunny himself!

Spring Eggstravaganza at the Long Island Children's Museum - Garden City

Home on over to the Long Island Children’s Museum to meet Peter Cottontail, take part in egg relays, and other themed crafts! Collect eggs are you bounce from activity to activity and for a small fee ($4) enjoy “Eggcellent” Performers by the National Circus Project! 

Special Needs Easter Egg Hunt @PlayAmusements - Farmingdale
Thursday, March 24th from 6-8pm
Cost: $15/child
For families with special needs children AND their siblings, head over to @PlayAmusements on 110 in Farmingdale. The $15 per child includes UNLIMITED rides, $4 worth of tokens for arcade games, food and drinks, and of course - an Easter Egg hunt! Must pre-register to attend!

Eggstravaganza at Quogue Wildlife Refuge - Quogue
Saturday, March 26th from 11-11:45am OR 2-2:45pm
Cost: $8/child. Reservations required, ages 5-12
Inspect the Refuge egg and nest collection for ideas to create your own fun nest craft. You may want to bring a smock or an old shirt with you. Kids will decorate their own ‘nests’ and color and decorate hard-boiled eggs to take home. Dress appropriately, the program may take place outside!

Bounce! - Syosset
Saturday, November 14
Get the whole family to jump and play around on trampolines at Bounce! The facility contains multiple jumping courts of varying sizes and purpose including: foam pits, multiple lane slam dunk basketball courts, dodgeball courts, an enormous main court,  and the only indoor trampoline bungee jumps in America! Bring in two cans or boxes of food to donate to their Thanksgiving Food Drive and receive an additional half hour of FREE jump time!
 
Chocolate & Sweet FantaSEA Fest - Riverhead

Looking for something to do with your left over jack-o-lanterns? Bring them to the Cradle of Aviation Museum for their annual pumpkin drop! Let them go from the second story of the museum’s atrium to see them splat! The event is from 12-3pm and is free with museum admission.

Fairway 5k Turkey Trot - East Meadow
Sunday, November 15
This Sunday is the Fairway 5K Turkey Trot plus a kids 1K Fun Run “Chase the Gobbler.” All athletes are encouraged to bring food donations to the Race Site or pre-race checkins. Adults are welcome to run the 5K with a jogging stroller! Hurry - registration for the event closes TONIGHT!
