Last Minute New Year’s Eve Crafts

After the flurry of excitement the holidays bring, sometimes we forget that New Year’s Eve is around the corner. And while you’ve managed to remember to invite some guests and prep some hors d'oeuvres, you’ve forgotten one thing: party favors! Instead of rushing out to your local party store for hats and noisemakers – round up your troops and make some of these last minute crafts for a memorable 2017 celebration:

Countdown to Midnight - Balloon Drop

You’ll need some balloons, a sheet (or some type of cloth), string, and painters tape. Attach the yarn to one side of the table cloth then using the painters tape, tape your tablecloth to the ceiling – leaving some slack to hold balloons. Blow up a bunch of balloons and place them between the tablecloth and ceiling (if you don’t mind the clean up, add some confetti for an extra surprise!). When the time comes, pull on the yarn and watch the balloons drop!

DIY Party Poppers

You’ll need tissue paper, toilet paper rolls, string, ribbon, and confetti. Measure your tissue paper to be a little more than double the length of your toilet paper roll (10-12 inches). Lay your roll onto the tissue paper on one end and start rolling. Gather the end on one side, twist, and secure with string. Then start filling the other end with ribbon, confetti, and whatever else you’d like to add! Finish by securing the end with string and come midnight – grab both ends and pull hard!

New Year’s Eve Sound Makers

You’ll need empty water bottles, and really anything you can find around the house! Buttons, sequins, pennies, glitter, sprinkles – you name it. Simply make a funnel out of a piece of paper, and fill an empty water bottle 1/5th of the way. Once finished, glue on the tops to ensure nothing comes out when shaking! Feel free to spray paint the tops gold or silver for some added pizzazz.

DIY Father's Day Crafts for Kids

With Father's Day only 5 days away, are your kids having a hard time deciding on the perfect gift? Sometimes the best gifts to receive are the ones from the heart. That's why these DIY Father's Day projects are the way to go!

Check out some of the below ideas you can help your children make:

Personalized Mugs - Every Father deserves a “#1 Dad” mug for Father’s Day - and fortunately, they are pretty simple to create on your own! Visit your nearest dollar store or Wal-Mart for a ceramic mug of your choosing. You’ll want to wash it well with vinegar or glass cleaner to remove any oil or residue. Then get creative with sharpies or painters pens! To set the design, you’ll need to bake the mug in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. For two great tutorials visit I Heart Arts n Crafts and Crafting a Green World.

DIY Toddler Art T-Shirt - Why not create some wearable art! Let your toddler try their hands at a one of a kind t-shirt design. Purchase a light colored shirt in Dad’s size and get some masking/painters tape and dark colored fabric markers. Use the tape to set designs then let your little one have at it! For a great DIY graphic tee for Dad tutorial, visit Small + Friendly.

My Dad ROCKS Paperweight - Is Dad a businessman? Why not create a custom paperweight for his desk! This project requires is a rock heavy enough to weigh down paper, acrylic paint and sealer spray, paintbrush, and some glitter glue. Give the rock a good wash, wipe any excess water with a towel and allow the rock to air dry. Then get painting! Check out Our Family World's tutorial

No matter what you choose to make for dad this Father’s Day, he’s sure to appreciate your heartfelt gift. Have even more ideas? Tell us about them at our Facebook page.

Adelberg Montalvan Pediatric Dental and Orthodontics
Father's Day is quickly approaching! Need some last minute gift ideas? Check out the below for some easy DIY gifts you and your kids can make together:

Adelberg & Montalvan

Father's Day Chalk Photo:
Find a good spot on your driveway and go to work with some chalk. Have your kids pose, step back and snap some photos! (Crafty Texas Girls)
Business Card Holder:
You'll need an altoids tin, low VOC spray paint, school glue, scissors, a pencil, and recycled paper. Trace the tin on recycled paper and cut it out. Then spray your tin with paint and set to dry. Write "Dad" in the center of the paper in bubble letters and cut it out. Finally, mix your school glue with a bit of water and use the mixture to glue the paper to the top of the altoids tin. (Crafting a Green World)
Colorful Coaster Set:
You'll need plain bathroom tiles from hardware store, Mod Podge, felt pads, and tissue paper. Paint a layer of Mod Podge over the tile, then decorate with cut up pieces of tissue paper, apply another layer of Mod Podge over top to seal the coasters. Allow coasters to dry completely and flip the coaster over and add a felt pad to each corner. (Inner Child Fun)
Felt Koozie:
You'll need pieces of felt, hot glue/ hot glue gun, scissors, a pen, and a ruler. Wrap your main piece of felt around a cup Dad typically uses to determine length/size of the koozie and mark felt accordingly. Leave some extra room so you can glue together. Cut felt to the appropriate size. Draw and cut out letters and art of your choice from other pieces of felt and hot glue them to the middle of your main piece. Wrap the felt around the cup again and mark where the felt overlaps. After that,  just hot glue the ends that overlap together. (Crafting a Green World)
