Routine dental visits (every six months) help us gauge your child’s overall dental health. During this time, your child’s teeth will be cleaned, we’ll review proper brushing and flossing techniques, discuss oral hygiene and apply a topical fluoride treatment to protect against cavities. This is also the time for us to spot potential problems early, so that your child will need minimal interventions later in life. As Dr. Marc states in the article, “Parents should get [their kids] to the dentist early so we can help treat and coach them at an early age.”
X-rays are sometimes needed to spot things the eye can’t see. These X-rays take images of your child’s jaw and tooth structure and can show us if there are any cavities or abnormalities. They also help us track teeth progression. At Adelberg Montalvan Pediatric Dental, we take radiation dosages very seriously and even have digital X-ray machines. Fillings are needed when a cavity is found, to fill the hole and block bacteria. Our tooth-colored composite fillings can be done in one visit! Once the decay is removed, the tooth is filled with the composite material which immediately hardens.
